Facing us is the Giudecca Canal, formerly known as the Canale delle Zattere (Raft Canal). On the other side of the canal, on the Zitelle quays, is the church of Santa Maria della Presentazione. Further along to the right is the Basilica del Santissimo Redentore. In the foreground are the briccole, oak pilings joined in groups of three, which mark the navigation channels in the lagoon.
