At dusk, at the edge of night, when the lights come on but the stars are not yet visible, when we pass from the golden hour to the blue hour, you can see here the southern end of the Grand Canal, between the Accademia Bridge (Ponte dell'Accademia) and the Punta della Dogana, where the Canal opens onto the St. Mark's Basin.

On the left, the San Marco district; on the opposite bank, the Dorsoduro district. In the foreground on the left is the Palazzo Franchetti (an exhibition space), and a little further on are the flags that adorn the façade of the Prefettura di Venezia (Venice Prefecture). On the right of the image, one can see the façade of the Peggy Guggenheim Museum, and most notably in the background, the Salute church and the Customs House.
